Four steps from photo to plain text.

Adjust Threshold so symbols stand out. Enable Invert for light-on-dark Morse. Choose Auto, Text Morse OCR, or Graphic dots/dashes.
Press Scan. Auto tries OCR for typed . - first, then falls back to connected-component blob detection for graphic marks.
Fix Detected Morse if a symbol was misread, then copy Morse or text — or Play Morse to hear the tone.
Most failed scans are image quality or the wrong decode mode — not a broken map.
Retake or crop tightly. Soft focus and busy backgrounds defeat typed . - OCR. Prefer a sharp PNG screenshot of mono Morse text.
Light-on-dark Morse needs Invert. Nudge Threshold until symbols are solid and background is clean before you Scan again.
Typed periods/hyphens need Text OCR. Drawn circles and bars need Graphic mode. Auto can mis-pick — switch manually when you know the style.
If the image shows run-on Morse, edit Detected Morse: add spaces between letters and / between words, then re-read the text panel.

Printed or drawn circles and bars are classified by width after thresholding: wider blobs become dashes, narrower ones dots. Gaps become letter or word spaces.
Auto tries OCR first; if little Morse-like text appears, it runs graphic detection. Switch modes manually when you know which style you have.
